       Late Spring 2008

Message from President Mike Casson

Dear Members,

I hope 2007 was a safe and successful year for you, your business, and your families! Our 2007 MEMSA conference was a great success with new faces from both North and South America. We received very positive feedback on the program content and overall conference. Feedback from the membership (positive or negative) is tremendously important to our organization. The goal of the MEMSA board of directors is to continually improve each year’s conference in providing attendees with new information & contacts to assist in the course of their normal work days. We want your input!

Our spring Board of Directors meeting will be held on March 14, 2008. During this meeting we will be narrowing down the technical presentations and general format for the September 2008 conference. If you have a suggestion for improvements to the conference, or a technical paper you would like to hear or give, please do not hesitate to contact me or any other board member. Also, we currently have two open positions on the board of directors. If you have an interest in participating on the board, please let us know. It is truly an interesting and rewarding experience.

On a sad note, Stan Burns passed away this year. Stan was a long term member and supporter of MEMSA and he was the primary “driving force” in initiating MEMSA from the former OPMA organization. His insight and technical knowledge will be missed by the entire industry. Please remember his family and friends in your prayers.

The 2008 MEMSA conference will be held September 3-5 at the Sand Key Sheraton in Clearwater. We have several great papers already confirmed so be sure to put it on your calendar. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Mike Casson

September 2007 Annual Meeting

The 2007 meeting was one of MEMSA's best ever.  Those attending were from various parts of the US, Canada, and the South America, although, the majority were from the Eastern part of the US. There were great technical papers that included many practical tips and information that could be taken back to our jobs.  The opportunity to network and talk to others in our field was very evident at our annual meeting.  Many conversations were seen taking place with people from different areas so it is great opportunity.
